Common use of Attaining a Continuing Contract Clause in Contracts

Attaining a Continuing Contract. A teacher must apply to the principal in writing to the building principal by September 15 of the school year in which he or she becomes eligible for continuing contract status, so that evaluation procedures can be completed that year using the appropriate evaluation procedure. Attainment of continuing contract status must be by recommendation of the Superintendent to the Board of Education and cannot be obtained automatically, or by operation of law. Such evaluation will then become the basis upon which the Superintendent will make a recommendation to the Board of Education concerning contract status. This provision of the negotiated agreement supersedes the provisions of Ohio Rev. Code 3319.08 and 3319.11 related to the attainment of continuing contract status.
