Common use of Benefit Waiting Period Allowance Clause in Contracts

Benefit Waiting Period Allowance. (a) An employee who qualifies for a maternity leave allowance pursuant to 24.2 or a parental leave allowance pursuant to 24.4 and is required by Employment Insurance to serve a one-week waiting period for Employment Insurance Maternity/Parental benefits, shall be paid a leave allowance during the waiting period equivalent to one week at 85% of the employee’s basic pay. (b) An employee who qualifies a maternity leave allowance pursuant to 24.2 and takes the maximum maternity leave entitlement, shall be paid a leave allowance equivalent to one week at 85% of the employee’s basic pay for the last week of the maternity leave entitlement. (c) The weekly payments will occur between the Tuesday after Labour Day and the last school day in each school year for teachers.
