Bypassing Departmental Review. The Union may file a grievance at the campus review level of the grievance procedure if the grievance encompasses an issue affecting employees from more than one (1) department, if the grievance is of a nature in which the preliminary steps of the grievance procedure are not appropriate, or is regarding a University-wide policy or practice. The Chancellor or Chancellor’s designee retains the right to remand the grievance to the affected department if the Union has misapplied the foregoing procedural requirements or determines the grievance is more appropriate for review at the departmental level.
