Common use of Cafeteria Employees – Summer Session Clause in Contracts

Cafeteria Employees – Summer Session. When the District decides to operate a cafeteria during the summer session, the positions to be filled, as determined by the District manager or supervisor directly responsible for the affected cafeteria, will be posted for five (5) working days not later than May 1 immediately preceding the summer session involved. Regular employees wishing to work during the summer may request, in writing, to fill one of the posted positions. Such assignments will be made on a seniority basis provided the employee meets the minimum qualifications for the position requested. If the summer session assignment is in a job classification lower than their regular work schedule assignment, the employee will be paid at the lower job classification range and at the step closest to their regular base pay without exceeding it. For work performed at a higher classification than the assigned job classification during the summer session for more than five (5) working days within a fifteen (15) day period the employee shall be paid at the higher classification rate for the entire period of out of classification work.
