CalPERS Health Care Benefits. The District agrees to contract with the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) Health Benefits Program for the purpose of providing employees and their dependents with access to medical insurance benefits. Unit members must comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the CalPERS Health Benefits Program and the Public Employees Medical and Hospital Care Act (PEMHCA). Because the availability of specific plans and benefit levels provided by CalPERS is not within the District’s control, the District’s obligations shall be limited to providing employees with those benefits described in this Section. In the event medical insurance coverage in effect on January 9, 2018 becomes unavailable, the parties agree to meet and confer on modifying this Section to provide for an alternative group medical insurance plan.
