CASH PAYMENT FOR LINE OF DUTY DEATH. In the event of a line of duty death, as defined by the Bureau of Justice Assistance Public Safety Officers’ Benefit Program, the employee’s designated CalPERS beneficiary shall be entitled to a lump sum payment calculated at the hourly rate for the employee in effect on the last day of ACFD service for their classification as set forth in Appendix A, times eighty percent (80%) of the employee’s unused accrued sick leave to a maximum of $100,000.
