Common use of Commencing Discussions Clause in Contracts

Commencing Discussions. Where notice has been received by the Union that employees are to be laid off in accordance with Article 21.1, the Union may make written request to hold discussions with the Employer to examine alternative action to layoff. The parties to this Agreement shall, within fourteen (14) days of the date the request was received, meet and commence such discussions. Pursuant to Article 29.4 of the Agreement, changes to the Collective Agreement may be considered.
