Joint Safety Committee. (a) The Union and the Company shall cooperate in selecting one or more Safety Committees, which will meet at least once a month to consider all safety and occupational health problems.
(b) The local Joint Safety Committee shall consist of equal representation from Company and Union. This Committee shall meet at least once a month to consider all safety and occupational health problems.
Joint Safety Committee. Designated employee representatives covered by this agreement may participate on the College’s Safety and Health Committee. The committee will consider workplace safety and health issues affecting employees. Employee participation in safety committee meetings held during the employee’s work time will be considered time worked. Employees may request work schedule adjustments to participate. Any employee has the right to bring a workplace health and safety concerns to the safety committee. Recommendations will be forwarded to the appropriate appointing authority for review and action, as necessary.
Joint Safety Committee. The Joint Union Management Safety Committee shall be comprised of equal representation from the Company and the Unions concerned. Its' terms of reference shall be as follows:
1. To review all safety issues tabled during Agreement negotiations, and recommend action to the Parties as appropriate.
2. To meet monthly or at regular intervals to consider such safety matters of an industry wide character as may be placed on the agenda by individual committee members.
3. To deal with such other matters as the Parties may assign from time to time.
4. The Marine Occupational Safety and Health Regulations.
Joint Safety Committee. (a) The SFMTA and the Transport Workers Union Local 250-A shall establish a joint safety committee hereinafter termed "JSC" composed of an equal number of Transport Workers Union Local 250-A and SFMTA representatives. These representatives shall select an independent, neutral committee member who shall be knowledgeable in the field of health and safety who shall serve as chairperson. For accident determination decisions, the independent chairperson shall be selected as set forth in subsection (c), below. Expenses of the independent chairperson shall be shared equally by the Transport Workers Union Local 250-A and SFMTA. The JSC shall meet within five days of the call of either party. If one party refuses or fails to meet when a meeting is called, the other party may proceed with the selection of an independent, neutral committee member, who shall serve as chairperson, and the JSC shall commence its activities. The JSC shall consider and propose action on any aspect of SFMTA’s operations affecting the health and safety of Operators. If any action proposed by a majority of the members of the JSC is not implemented, the matter shall be referred to the Executive Director/CEO or designee and the President of the Transport Workers Union Local 250-A for handling, and if the matter is still not resolved, subject to the budgetary and fiscal provisions of the charter, the committee is authorized to take reasonable steps to publish at SFMTA’s expense its findings and proposed action.
(b) The JSC will have jurisdiction to review Operator-involved accidents that have been determined to be preventable by a Transit Safety Professional (“TSP”) or by the Operator’s Division Safety Instructor as set forth in Section
Joint Safety Committee. The Joint Safety Committee shall be composed of an equal number of representatives of the Department and the Union. This Committee may meet every three months on a regular basis as determined by said Committee. It shall also meet on urgent situations at the request of either the Department or the Union. It shall be the responsibility of the Joint Safety Committee to review the causes of serious accidents revealed by the investigation of such accidents and to recommend rules for the safety of the employees in the performance of their work. The present safe working rules and practices shall be considered a part of this MOU and changes in the Safety Rules shall be subject to negotiations between the parties and in conformance with applicable City, State or Federal regulations. The Joint Safety Committee shall utilize consultants from the City, State or Federal agencies in the event an interpretation of the City, State or Federal regulations is involved. It shall be the responsibility of the Department to administer the Safety Program and to make every reasonable effort that Safety Rules are carried out by all employees. It shall be the responsibility of the employees to make every reasonable effort to ensure that they act in a safe manner. Should a dispute arise over the application or interpretation of a Safety Rule, such dispute shall be resolved by use of the Grievance Procedure.
Joint Safety Committee. There shall be established a Joint Safety Committee on which the Union and the Association respectively shall have equal representation. Safety Committee meetings between the Union and the Association shall be convened within fifteen (15) days after notice given by either Party and the Joint Safety Committee to meet regularly at least once every three (3) months.
Joint Safety Committee. The Union will select three (3) members of the Union and the Company will appoint a like number from the supervisory staff, to serve on a joint Company and Union Safety Committee. The President of the Union shall be an ex-officio member of this Committee. Members of the Safety Committee shall not suffer loss of pay for such duties performed under this clause The Joint Safety Committee will meet once each month to discuss safety and health problems and make recommendations for the maintenance of proper safety standards. They will also receive and investigate complaints regarding unsafe and hazardous work. The Committee shall make periodic inspections of the plant. Records of these meetings will be kept and a copy furnished to the Union Committee. In any event such inspections will occur no less than monthly. The President of the Union or one (1) Safety Committee member of the Union and one (1)member of the Company will accompany the Department of Labour Inspector when such inspection of the plant is to take place.
Joint Safety Committee. The Joint Union-Management Safety Committee shall be comprised of equal representation from the Company and the Union concerned. Its terms of reference shall be as follows:
1. To review all safety issues tabled during Agreement negotiations, and recommend action to the parties as appropriate.
2. To meet monthly or at regular intervals to consider such safety matters of an industry-wide character as may be placed on the agenda by individual committee members.
3. To deal with such other matters as the parties may assign from time to time.
4. No employee will be required to work in unsafe places or conditions.
5. None of the above shall exclude the Union from meeting with individual companies on specific safety issues.
6. To observe the provisions of the Marine Occupational Safety and Health Regulations.
Joint Safety Committee. The Employer shall maintain a high standard of safety in its operations in order to eliminate accidents as far as possible. Both parties agree to abide by the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Employee complaints made to their Supervisor shall receive full consideration by the Supervisor and the Employer’s Management and every effort shall be made to remedy all unsafe practices. The parties agree to co-operate to eliminate accidents as far as possible, and to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all employees. The Employer agrees to implement identified legislated safety requirements in an expeditious manner. The Employer and the Union agree to establish a joint Safety Committee on which each party will have equal representation. The Union representatives will be determined solely by the Union, but such appointments shall be for a minimum of twelve (12) months and shall not exceed three (3) members. The Safety Committee shall be involved in determining the Terms of Reference pertaining to the function of the Safety Committee.
Joint Safety Committee. The Employer will establish a joint safety committee and the Union to promulgate mutually agreed upon rules and procedures, which in their opinion will best protect the safety of the employees, students, staff and the public. The grievance committee will serve as the Union's representative on such safety committee. The joint safety committee will meet when appropriate but at least once each year to evaluate the safety rules and procedures of the bargaining unit. This committee is not to replace the District Safety Committee; the District Safety Committee will include a Union representative.
