Contribution in Lieu of Dues or Service Fee. 3.4.1 Any unit member who qualifies as a religious objector, as defined in Government Code Section 3546.3, shall not be required to join or pay a service fee to the Union as a condition of employment. Such a unit member shall pay a sum equal to the established service fee to AFSCME by payroll deduction and AFSCME shall contribute that amount to a non-religious, non-labor organization charitable fund exempt from taxation under Section 501(C)(3) of Title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code.
