Damage to or loss of safety equipment items. Any employee who sustains a loss of or damage to the safety equipment items specified other than ordinary wear and tear shall immediately report such damage or loss to the Department Head or his/her designee. a. If a determination is made by the Department Head or his/her designee that the damage or loss resulted from carelessness or negligence on the part of the employee, the employee will be required to replace the item at his/her own expense. b. If a determination is made by the Department Head or his/her designee that the damage or loss did not result from carelessness or negligence on the part of the employee, such equipment shall be replaced at the County’s expense.
