Common use of DATES OF OCCUPANCY Clause in Contracts

DATES OF OCCUPANCY. Students may occupy their rooms under the terms of this Agreement as follows: A. Incoming first-year and transfer students may occupy their rooms beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. B. Returning students may occupy their rooms beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023. C. Only students authorized in writing by the Office of Residential Life may occupy their rooms before their approved move-in date. Students who arrive to campus to move in earlier than the date established in this Agreement without prior authorization accept their room condition as is and waive any expectation that the room has been cleaned and inspected prior to occupancy. D. Residence halls will be closed from 12:00pm on Friday, December 22, 2023 until the Spring move-in date established by the Office of Residential Life. During this winter break period, only students authorized in writing by the Office of Residential Life may occupy their rooms. E. All non-graduating students must vacate their room within 24 hours of their last final examination but no later than 12:00pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024 (whichever is sooner), unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life.1 F. Graduating seniors must vacate their room no later than 12:00 pm on Monday, May 27, 2024 following Commencement, unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life. G. Extensions to these dates of occupancy, including occupancy during the winter break period, may result in additional daily charges being applied to the student’s account in accordance with the Residential Life Policies and Rules. Students who receive extensions to their dates of occupancy at the end of the Spring 2024 semester may be required to relocate to a temporary assignment for the extended housing period. Failure to comply with relocation requirements from the Office of Residential Life may result in referral to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, the student receiving Late Occupancy Fines, and/or termination of this Agreement H. Students who withdraw, take a leave of absence, are suspended, or expelled from the University must vacate their rooms within 24 hours after such withdrawal, leave, suspension, or expulsion takes effect. I. Students who maintain their Fall 2023 room assignment into the Spring 2024 semester, and who keep their personal items in their room between semesters, but do not return for the Spring 2024 semester will be charged the applicable room charge for the Spring 2024 semester. Prorated room credits may be given based on the student's Date of Withdrawal under the Spring 2024 schedule contained in this Agreement.

Failure to comply with relocation requirements from the Office of Residential Life may result in referral to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, the student receiving Late Occupancy Fines, and/or termination of this Agreement. H. F. Students who withdraw, take a leave of absence, or are suspended, suspended or expelled from the University must vacate their rooms within 24 hours after such withdrawal, suspension, leave, suspension, or expulsion takes effectbecomes effective. Students who maintain their Fall 2023 2021 room assignment into the Spring 2024 2022 semester, and who keep their personal items in their room between the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters, but do not return for the Spring 2024 2022 semester will be charged the applicable room charge for the Spring 2024 2022 semester. Prorated room credits may be given based on the student's Date of Withdrawal under the Spring 2024 schedule contained in this the Spring 2022 Housing Agreement.

Graduating seniors Students who leave Rhode Island for more than 24 hours at any point in the semester are required to contact Student Support Services prior to departing to coordinate possible travel quarantine requirements. All students must vacate their room no later than 12:00 pm on Monday, May 27, 2024 following Commencement, by the end date(s) established in this Agreement unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life. Prorated room credits may be given based on the student's Date of Withdrawal under the Spring 2024 schedule contained in this the Fall 2021 Housing Agreement.

Students who leave Providence for four or more consecutive days, at any point throughout the semester, will need to complete the remainder of the semester remotely and must vacate their room entirely prior to leaving for these four days unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by receive prior written permission from the Office of Residential Life.1Life.
