Death in a Deck Officer’s Family. Sick leave, up to ten (10) days in any one instance, may be used for a death in the immediate family of a Deck Officer or to attend the funeral of a member of the Deck Officer’s immediate family. For the purposes of this Rule, family shall be defined as: any relative living in the Deck Officer’s household, the Deck Officer’s spouse, parent, grandparent, brother, sister, child, grandchild, aunt, uncle, father- in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law. Upon request and with the demonstration of a good reason, the Employer may approve up to ten (10) days of additional sick leave for the death of a close relative.‌
