Common use of Definition of Department Clause in Contracts

Definition of Department. 29.1.1 For the purpose of this Agreement, the term department designates the administrative sub-unit into which employees are appointed for the coordination and performance of their respective duties, and for the execution of the education activities of OC. 29.1.2 Where appropriate, the term “school” may be used to designate one of the academic sub-units referred to in 29.1.1. In such cases all provisions of this Agreement which pertain to departments shall also pertain to such single-department schools. 29.1.3 OC shall maintain a list of departments in APPENDIX B of this Agreement. 29.1.4 Departments shall not be created, dissolved, or merged without the approval of the Association. Such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. OC shall identify all employees affected by the creation, dissolution or merger of departments. 29.1.5 Other than employees identified in the process of 29.1.4, employees may not be transferred from one department to another without the agreement of the employee in question.
