Definition of Hire Date. For purposes of this article, hire date for seniority purposes shall be the first day of probationary service, except that an employee whose employment is interrupted in excess of thirty-nine (39) months shall be deemed to have been hired on the first day of his/her continuous reemployment as a probationary/permanent unit member.
