Definitions of Compensable Rock. Rock, for the purposes of pricing its removal, is defined as follows: Rippable Rock. Rippable rock is defined as any material that can be ripped with a single- tooth hydraulic ripper drawn by a crawler tractor having a minimum draw bar pull rated at not less than 56,000 pounds (Caterpillar D-8K or equivalent) and occupies an original volume of at least one cubic yard.
