Direct Appointments. A. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, with the approval of the School Board, a vacancy may be filled by a direct appointment of an individual who has demonstrated the specific qualifications and background applicable to the position.
B. The authority for direct appointments shall be exercised when necessary, i.e., as a result of reorganization, in cases of leaves or emergency needs, reassignment of personnel within region or district offices, or when the Interview Committee advises that it cannot make an appropriate selection or when the Superintendent deems it in the best interest of the school system.

Direct Appointments. At the Chief Executive Officer’s option, the Chief Executive Officer shall make one (1) direct appointment per fiscal year during the term of this Agreement in conformance with the guidelines in Resolution 1721. Each year in accordance with the published budget cycle, employees will have the opportunity to submit a request for promotion to be considered by the Chief Executive Officer. To be eligible for consideration for promotion, employees must be non- probationary and must have a Satisfactory or better performance evaluation rating for the past 24 months.
Direct Appointments. At the Chief Executive Officer’s option, the Chief Executive Officer shall make one (1) direct appointment per unit per fiscal year during the term of this Agreement in conformance with the guidelines in Resolution 1721.
