The Divisional Transfers clause governs the process by which employees may be moved from one division of a company to another. Divisional Transfers. When a vacancy occurs in the Fire Department: Employees eligible to make application for transfer shall be allowed thirty (30) days to prepare for examinations. When a vacancy occurs in the Fire Fighting Division, Fire Prevention Division or the Communications Division the successful candidate shall be determined by the procedures outlined in 9.03 with the following exceptions: i) Examinations shall only be conducted when an opening occurs there shall be no list; ii) All material used for this examination shall relate to the Division iii) Minimum years service requirement does not apply Only employees who have attained First Class Firefighter status shall be eligible to make application for transfer to Fire Prevention. When a vacancy occurs in the Training Division, only employees who have attained the rank of Captain shall be eligible to make application for transfer. Failing receipt of qualified applicants from the rank of Captain, Acting Captains would then be eligible to make application. The successful candidate shall be determined by the procedures outlined in 9.03 with the following exceptions: i) Examinations shall only be conducted when an opening occurs there shall be no list ii) All material used for this examination shall relate to the Firefighting and Training Divisions iii) Seniority for each applicant shall be calculated on a basis of one and one half (1.5) marks per year for each year they have been in their position up to 15 marks maximum. iv) There shall be no employee assessment
Divisional Transfers. When an employee transfers to another division, the date of such transfer will be his new division seniority date. Seniority lists for the Company divisions containing the name and starting date of employees will be prepared and posted on the bulletin board every six (6) months with sufficient copies for Stewards and Business Representatives. A seniority list containing the names and addresses of employees as contained in the records of the Company, will be prepared and forwarded to the Local Union office annually during September of each year.
Divisional Transfers. When the Department initiates a divisional transfer of an employee, said employee shall be given seven (7) days’ notice prior to the effective date of transfer unless the employee and the Department mutually agree to modify the notice requirement.
Divisional Transfers. An Officer who transfers from one division to another, shall, for the purposes of time in step, begin at the lowest pay step. However, in no event shall any transferring officer suffer a reduction in pay, except for disciplinary actions, failure to complete the FTO program or voluntary reassignment. Any other transferring officers shall maintain their current pay rate until they have accrued enough time in their new division that would entitle them to an increase in pay. At such time, the transferring officer’s step shall henceforth conform to the normal pay step procedures spelled out in Article 19, Section 1, above. Provided, however, that any supervisor (sergeant, lieutenant, captain or major) who voluntarily transfers and is required by the transfer to give up his rank, shall enter the new division at the highest non-supervisory pay the transferor earned before he or she became a supervisor.

Divisional Transfers. Any Employee receiving an indefinite lay-off or written consent from the company to do so shall be given the opportunity to transfer, within the company, to the Branch Seniority list of his choice where the probationary period will be waived and his Branch seniority will be effective from, and dated 30 (thirty) days prior to his reporting for duty. He will maintain his Company Seniority for the computation of monetary benefits. To be eligible for transfer the employee must meet all hiring criteria including reference checks.
