Domestic Work. 31.1 Except as hereinafter provided, nurses, enrolled nurses and assistants-in-nursing shall not be required to perform, as a matter of routine, the following duties, viz: washing, sweeping, polishing and/or dusting of floors, walls or windows of wards, corridors, annexes, bathrooms or verandas, nor any duties which are generally performed by classifications other than nursing staff: but this provision shall not preclude the employment of nurses, enrolled nurses and assistants-in-nursing on any of such duties in an isolation block or where the performance of those duties involves disinfection. 31.2 Nothing in subclause 31.1 of this clause shall preclude an enrolled nurse or an assistant-in-nursing from being required to perform all or any of the specified duties during the first thirteen weeks of training or experience, as the case may be. 31.3 Nothing in subclause 31.1 of this clause shall preclude any employee from being required to perform all or any of the specified duties at any time when domestic staff is not available to perform them; provided that the employer has made all reasonable efforts to obtain domestic staff.
