Common use of Duration of the Employment Clause in Contracts

Duration of the Employment. (a) The Employment will commence on the Effective Date and will continue thereafter unless and until terminated by the Company giving to the Officer written notice of not less than 12 months. Notwithstanding the provisions of this Clause, the Employment may be terminated at any time by the Officer giving to the Company not less than 12 months notice. For the avoidance of doubt and notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this Clause it is expressly agreed between the parties hereto that the Employment shall terminate without notice on the retirement date specified in Clause 9(b) below unless otherwise agreed with the Board. (b) The Officer's period of continuous employment for the purposes of the Employment Rights Xxx 0000 commenced on 23 July 1991. (c) The Company shall be entitled at its sole discretion to make a payment to the Officer in lieu of notice. The Company shall be entitled to make such deductions from such payment as is required or permitted by law in respect of income tax and national insurance contributions.
