Common use of Duties of the Mentor Teacher Clause in Contracts

Duties of the Mentor Teacher. a. The Mentor Teacher shall meet with the Referred Participating Teacher to discuss the Peer Support Coaching Program, to establish mutually agreed upon performance goals, develop the assistance plan, and develop a process for determining successful completion of the Peer Support Coaching Program. b. Mentor Teachers shall have the responsibility of no more than 2 Participating Teachers. Each Referred Participating Teacher shall receive approximately 40 hours of assistance per semester from the Mentor Teacher. Mentor Teachers shall assist Participating Teachers by demonstrating, observing, conferencing, referring or by other activities, which, in their professional judgment, will assist the Participating Teacher. c. The Mentor Teacher shall conduct multiple observations of the Participating Teacher during classroom instruction, and shall have both pre-observation and post- observation conferences. d. The Mentor Teacher shall monitor the progress of the Referred Participating Teacher and shall provide periodic written reports to the Referred Participating Teacher for discussion and review. e. The Mentor Teacher shall continue to provide assistance to the Referred Participating Teacher until he or she concludes that the teaching performance of the Participating Teacher is satisfactory, or that further assistance will not be productive. A copy of the Mentor Teacher’s final report shall be submitted to and discussed with the Referred Participating Teacher to receive his or her input and signature before it is submitted to the Peer Support Coaching Joint Committee. The Participating Teacher’s signing of the report does not necessarily mean agreement, but rather that he or she has received a copy of the report. The Mentor Teacher shall submit a final report to the Peer Support Coaching Joint Committee. The Referred Participating Teacher shall have the right to submit a written response, within twenty (20) days, and have it attached to the final report. The Referred Participating Teacher shall also have the right to request a meeting with the Peer Support Coaching Joint Committee, and to be represented at this meeting by the Association representative of his or her choice.
