Leave Days. 1. Each full-time teacher employed under regular contract shall be entitled to an annual allotment of thirteen (13) leave days. Such allotment shall be credited the first day of each school year and unused days shall be accumulated as sick leave to a total of one hundred eighty-two and one half (182.5) days. The teacher’s accumulated sick days may be used following use of 13 days and a doctor’s note with approval by Superintendent. Certificated staff with an accumulation of 182.5 days of accumulated sick leave shall be compensated at the end of each school year at the rate of the current daily certified substitute pay per each unused day above the 182.5 day accumulation. Such payments shall be made in July of each year. This money shall be placed in the teacher’s 403(b). If school corporation revenue in the Education Fund exceeds expenditures in the calendar year by an amount between $6,000 and $24,000, then the amount of that excess (minus compensation pay), not to exceed $18,000, shall be made available to fund a buyback of unused accumulated sick leave days on the following terms: Teachers shall have the option of selling up to ten (10) days, per round, of unused accumulated sick leave back to the school corporation at the daily rate of pay for a certified substitute teacher. This option will be offered to teachers in accordance with their seniority (total years of continuous service at Western Xxxxx) in the school corporation, with the teacher with the most seniority having priority to exercise the option, and it shall be available only to the extent of the total amount of money available as set forth above. Payment for these days shall be deposited in the individual teacher’s 403(b) plan, and upon payment those sick leave days shall no longer be available to the selling teacher. Said days must have been earned while the teacher has been employed in the school corporation. To participate in the program a teacher must maintain at all times a minimum balance of one hundred (100) days of accumulated sick leave. This method shall continue in successive rounds until the available money remaining less than daily rate of pay for a certified substitute teacher. If more money is available to the school corporation than is needed to fund the buy-backs exercised under this program, the school corporation may retain such money in its Education Fund. After selling a cumulative amount of eighty (80) days, teachers will receive a guaranteed buyback of any leave days ...
Leave Days. Teachers on summer employment for the Board shall be eligible to use accumulated sick leave, but will not earn or accumulate sick leave during summer employment. Because of the shortness of time for the summer term, no teacher may take more than 10% of the length of summer school in accumulated sick leave days during summer employment for the school, regardless of the number of days the teacher has accumulated or earned.
Leave Days. The Association shall be allowed up to sixty five (65) days of leave per year for members of the bargaining unit to carry out the statutory duties of the Association as exclusive representative in collective bargaining, contract administration, grievance processing during the life of the contract, and related activities bearing a direct relationship to labor-management relationships between the Association and the District. Such leave shall be granted upon request of the Association President or Vice President. The Association shall be billed for substitute costs for each day of actual substitute usage.
Leave Days. Job-share teachers will receive sick and personal days on the same basis as full-time teachers prorated between the two teachers.
Leave Days. It is the expectation that employees will report to work on a regular basis and be on time for scheduled work. Absenteeism places an undue burden on the school district’s ability to manage and direct the programs and activities that affect students, parents, staff and the community. It is recognized that over the course of the year, there may be reasons for employees to be absent from work. However, the frequency and duration of these absences must be monitored by the employer and excessive absenteeism will be addressed. Good attendance will benefit employees in terms of job security, better earnings, protection of sick leave benefits and equitable treatment. All AFSCME personnel, in the event of personal illness, family illness, death in family or other reason, are expected to follow the reporting procedures for absences as provided by the district/supervisor. All employees must request and receive permission from their appropriate administrator/supervisor before leaving their assigned work area and/or building while on duty. Failure to comply with the reporting procedures may result in loss of pay to the employee and/or further disciplinary action. Any absence which is taken for an improper reason or which is used for purposes other than as stated by the employee shall be considered abusive. Any employee abusing the leave policies of the district shall be subjected to appropriate discipline, up to suspension or termination. In addition, it is the expectation that employees will punch themselves in and out of work and not request others to do so. Employees who register time records for other employees (punch in or out of work) or who request such action, will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination.
A. A member of the bargaining unit selected to attend conferences, conventions or other functions of the International Union, or of the Michigan A.F.S.C.M.E. Council 25 shall be excused from work to attend such functions without loss of pay, subject to the following limitations.
1. The number of days that may be used under the terms of this provision shall not exceed twelve (12) workdays within a two-year period for the entire bargaining unit.
2. The Union shall provide at least a two (2) week notice prior to the use of conference days under this provision, and not more than two (2) employees shall be absent at any one time for this purpose.

Leave Days. Teachers shall notify the District sub-caller by the Teacher’s choice of either phone or on-line at the Teacher’s earliest knowledge of a pending leave day. All Teachers shall receive a minimum of twelve (12) sick days of absence per school year to be used for illness or injury without loss of salary. Sick day accumulation is unlimited. After the accumulation of eighty-nine (89) sick days, a Teacher shall receive fifteen
Leave Days. A. Personal Leave – two (2) personal leave days, non-accumulative.
1. The superintendent may approve personal leave at his discretion. Notice should be given at least two days in advance. Teachers shall not be granted personal leave on the day prior to or the day after any school holiday or vacation period.
2. Teachers not utilizing personal leave days will be reimbursed in their final check at the rate of the current substitute pay per unused personal leave day.
Leave Days. 1. Sick leave for full-time instructors will accumulate at the rate of ten (10) days for the first year and eight (8) days each year thereafter with maximum accumulated sick days as one hundred eighty-five (185) days.
2. Three (3) personal leave days shall be provided to each instructor without loss of pay. Notification to take such leave shall be given to the Director at least two (2) working days in advance. In case this is not possible, notification shall be given in time to allow the procurement of a substitute for such instructor (i.e., 6 a.m., day of leave). At the conclusion of each school year, all unused personal leave days may be added to the accumulated sick leave days or the instructor may elect to receive payment equivalent to the current substitute pay rate for each unused personal leave days.
3. For purposes of attending to matters related to immediate family member health care, teachers shall be permitted to use a maximum of four (4) days of accumulated sick leave. SUMMARY OF LEAVE DAYS: Sick = 10/8 Personal = 3
4. Instructors shall be granted time off in the event of a death in the immediate family for a period extending not more than five (5) days beyond such death without loss of pay. For the death of a relative outside the immediate family, the instructor is entitled to be absent the day of the funeral without loss of pay. Pall bearers at funerals are excused for the time involved without loss of pay.
5. When a teacher is called for jury service, the teacher will receive the difference between the salary and the amount received for the service in court.
6. Adoptive leave up to one (1) year shall be granted to a teacher adopting a child.
a. Notice of intent to take adoptive leave shall be given to the Director at the time the teacher makes initial application. The leave shall commence when the teacher takes physical custody of the child or earlier if necessary to meet the requirements of the adoptive agency. Such leave is without pay or benefits.
b. Such teacher, upon returning to school, shall not have lost any seniority, privileges, or position due such leave.
c. A teacher on adoptive leave shall not accept employment outside the Corporation’s employ unless approved by the Director. In the event a teacher does become so employed, the Director may immediately terminate the adoptive leave and require the teacher to return to work. Failure by the teacher to comply shall constitute resignation from the corporation.
Leave Days. A. Full-time teachers on an annual contract for the work year will be entitled to 12 days of sick leave each year with unlimited accumulation beginning in 2011-2012. Part-time certified teachers will receive a prorated number of days each year beginning in 2011-2012, also with unlimited accumulation. A pro- rata adjustment of accumulated sick leave credit will occur for any contract days not fulfilled due to early termination of employment or for days taken under a leave of absence or leave without pay.
B. Three (3) days of personal leave will be granted to each teacher employed one-half time or more. Teachers may carry over a total of three (3) days, holding a maximum of six (6) accumulated days. The individual teacher may elect to receive a payment in an amount equal to one contract day at their current salary step for each personal leave day accumulated, prorated to the teacher’s percentage of employment. Refer to Section 2.f. of this Article.
C. Teachers working half-time or more will accrue two (2) days of emergency leave per year. Teachers working less than half of the annual employment period shall receive one-half of the allotted emergency leave. Emergency leave will accumulate to a maximum of twelve (12) days.
D. Teachers who are unable to complete a regular contract year because of serious injury or illness are not eligible for additional sick leave credit in a new contract year until a medical doctor certifies they are able to return to work.
E. Teachers who have completed one full year of service with Fargo Public Schools, that have less than 30 days of sick leave accumulated, may borrow from next year’s allocated leave credits in the event of the birth or adoption of a child. The maximum amount they are allowed to borrow is two sick, two emergency and three personal leave days, or the difference between 30 days and their accumulated sick leave days, whichever is less. Teachers that do borrow sick leave days in advance are liable for repayment of the advanced amount in the event that their employment with the district terminates prior to the completion of the following year of service.
F. Teachers may request medical leave under Article XVII when their sick leave is used up.
G. Each day of leave used in excess of a teacher’s accumulated leave days shall result in a salary reduction equal to the individual’s daily rate of pay.
Leave Days. Each part-time teacher will be credited each year with fifteen (15) days (Prorated at their contracted work day) with pay. Days accumulated while a part -time teacher will be converted to full-time equivalence (F.
