EAGLE AGGREGATOR METADATA SCHEMA (EAMS Sample Clauses

EAGLE AGGREGATOR METADATA SCHEMA (EAMS. The EACM is materialized into an XML Schema (.xsd file) describing the format of the entitites and properties identified in the model. The preliminary XML schema can be found in “ANNEX VII - XML Schema for the EAGLE Aggregator Conceptual Model”, and online at the URL xxxx://xxx.xx/CPdxVf. The EAMS describes one generic Eagle Object (root object) with all its generic properties, its subentities and their specific properties. Only four main subentities out of the five presented in Section 4.2 are materialized as XML objects; in fact the Inscription object has been embedded as an optional element (xsd:choice construct) inside the Artifact entity. This hes deemed to be the simplest solution to the fact that every metadata record about an Inscription always come with metadata about the physical support on top of which the Inscription is placed (i.e. an Artifact). Hence either an Artifact without Inscription exists (i.e. a monument for example, which cannot be considered an information carrier as the information itself is missing) or an Inscription is present (i.e. an artifact carrying information becomes an Information carrier). Thus, every metadata record collected into the EAGLE aggregation system from one Content Provider will be transformed in one or more instances of an an EAGLE Object, further specialized into one of its subentities. One metadata record is therefore transformed into one or more XML files (based on the EAMS) representing the main entities of the EACM. In the following, we briefly show the diagrams of the main XML entities. Conventions for symbols used in the pictures are the following: represents the XML Schema element called “choice”, which allows only one of the elements contained in the <choice> declaration to be present within the containing element. represents the XML Schema element called “sequence”, which specifies that the child elements must appear in a sequence following the cardinalities as indicated. represents the XML Schema element called “all”, which indicates that all child elements can appear in any order and that each child element can occur zero or one time.
