Elementary Level. The elementary teacher must have at least three quarter hours of college credit in the fields of elementary reading, elementary language arts or children‟s literature and at least one college level course in at least three of the following six areas: elementary mathematics, elementary science, elementary social studies, elementary arts, elementary music or elementary health and physical education, or an appropriate endorsement for a teaching position in kindergarten through grade eight.
Elementary Level a. Effective July 1, 2002, the regular workday for all teachers shall not exceed seven (7) hours and five (5) minutes. Teachers shall be required to report for work not more than thirty (30) minutes before the scheduled start of the pupil day and to remain for not more than thirty (30) minutes after the scheduled end of the pupil day, such time to be calculated as part of the regular work day; provided, however, that reporting and departure times shall not be modified so as to increase the overall work-day beyond the seven (7) hours and five (5) minute limit.
b. During the course of the school year, elementary students shall have three (3) minimum session days, during which professional staff at the elementary school shall work through the end of the regular contract day for the purposes of reporting achievement or other professional duties. The scheduling of these days shall be mutually agreed upon by the FTEA President & BOE Administration.
Elementary Level. Internal substitute service at the direction of the District shall be compensated as follows: Current Contract Language UP TO HALF DAY (1/2 day = time period before or after lunch) FULL DAY (any amount of time greater than a half day) 1-10 Students $55 $110 11-16 Students $110 $220 The District shall limit the assignment of additional students to no more than 10 per class so long as the students are assigned to a class in the same grade level or within one (1) grade level of the student’s current placement. If internal substitute coverage cannot be obtained by assignment of 10 or less students to each of the teachers in the current grade level, or within one grade level of the current grade level, then the District may assign up to 16 students to a single teacher.
10.6.1.1 At the elementary level, if a teacher must work through his or her prep period due to the absence of the relief teacher, the teacher will be compensated at the current hourly rate per prep period.

Elementary Level. By April 15 of each year homeroom certified educators will be provided a “Student Placement Form.” This student placement form will include the following identification information:
a. Title and Federal Programs
b. STAR Math
c. STAR Reading
d. Gender Designation Each certified educator in grades K-4 will complete the “Student Placement Form” by June
1. Before the end of the school year, grade-level teams meet and will create new class lists for the following year. The school counselor(s) and building principal will be part of the grade level meetings to provide support and provide feedback on confidential information. These class lists will be used throughout the summer as new students enroll and/or new students move out of the district. Before lists are published in the fall, certified educators from the previous year, the counselor, and the administrator will meet to review the class lists and make necessary changes one final time. If asked, 5th grade certified educators will complete the “Student Placement Form” but will not need to complete class lists. The “Student Placement Form” will be provided to the middle school administration and the counselor. A representative from each grade level will meet with the principal and District level administrator within fifteen (15) days from the time school begins to review the make-up of classes if the union deems the meeting to be necessary. In addition, a representative from each grade level will meet with the principal and District level administrator in each building by January 15 and by March 15 to review the make-up of classes.
Elementary Level. Certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE); and either a passing score on the Florida K-6 Subject Area Examination; or, Verification of an Out of State Subject Area Content Test in K-6 Elementary Education; or, Verification of an Out of State HOUSSE Plan for K-6. MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL: Certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE); and documentation of HQ at elementary level (as noted above) AND passing score on the Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum Subject Area Exam.
Elementary Level. D-Days provide time for building and District activities (planning, inservice, or faculty meetings.) Teachers are encouraged to provide input in the utilization of D-Day time. There shall be 26 D-Days. Eighteen D-Days shall be 8 hours and 8 D-Days shall be 7 hours and 30 minutes. At least once per month, a minimum of 40 minutes will be provided during the D-Days to conduct grade level business/planning/meetings. There shall be 9 T-Days. Teachers shall work a 7 hour and 30 minute day. The time after the students leave shall be for teacher preparation. Should the provisions of the 1999-2001 Side Letter of Agreement regarding elementary preparation time change, the Master Agreement language regarding early release/meetings shall revert back to the 1997-99 status (10.7, 10.8, 10.8.1, 10.8.2, 10.8.3).
Elementary Level. The preparation block is that time before and after school when students are not present. The preparation block (a.m. or p.m.) is designed for teacher preparation time. Faculty meetings may be scheduled during the preparation block (a.m. or p.m.) no more than five (5) times per year, no more than once per month and shall not exceed 45 minutes. Individual teachers may decide to meet during teacher preparation time for communication, planning and collaborative decision making on an as-needed basis.
Elementary Level. For the purpose of this provision, two (2) grade level categories for regular classroom teachers shall be established: Lower Elementary (K-Second Grade); Upper Elementary (Third Grade through Sixth Grade); and one (1) category for Special Education unit-wide teachers.
Elementary Level. 9.16.7.1 The principal will refer to the coverage list and utilize those individuals who had requested to be volunteers first. If there are not enough to provide the necessary coverage within the appropriate grade level (K, 1-3, 4-6), the administrator may then assign students to classrooms as needed, provided such assignment is done in an equitable manner from among all available unit members.
