Common use of Eligible Equipment for Collocation Clause in Contracts

Eligible Equipment for Collocation. Types of Equipment: In accordance with Section 251(c)(6) of the Telecommunications Act, Requesting Carrier may collocate equipment “necessary for interconnection or access to unbundled network elements.” For purposes of this section, “necessary” means directly related to and thus necessary, required, or indispensable to interconnection or access to unbundled network elements. Such uses are limited to interconnection to Ameritech’s network “for the transmission and routing of telephone exchange access,” or for access to unbundled network elements “for the provision of a telecommunications service.” Equipment that may be collocated solely for these purposes includes: (1) transmission equipment including, but not limited to, optical terminating equipment and multiplexers; and (2) equipment being collocated to terminate basic transmission facilities pursuant to sections 64.1401 and 64.1402 of 47 C.F.R. (Expanded Interconnection) as of August 1, 1996.
