ELR Test. During a prescribed load response test, the smoke of a warmed-up engine shall be determined by means of an opacimeter. The test consists of loading the engine at constant speed from 10 per cent to 100 per cent load at three different engine speeds. Additionally, a fourth load step selected by the Technical Service 1/ shall be run, and the value compared to the values of the previous load steps. The smoke peak shall be determined using an averaging algorithm, as described in Appendix 1 to this annex.
