Entrances and Entry Features. The major public entry shall be a prominent visual feature of a building. Users should be able to discern the entry of a building from a distance to facilitate movement to the building. This entry should be oriented toward a public space such as the parking area or street right-of-way. The entry should be easily distinguishable from the rest of the building and given prominence through recess/projection, canopy or awning, change in material, height, added detail or other methods. If multiple retail tenants occupy the ground floor of a building, each should have their own separate and distinct entry. If the ground floor is occupied by office uses, a shared entrance is appropriate. Upper floors of office or residential buildings may be serviced by a single ground floor entry. Service entries and garage doors should be located in the rear or on the side of the building and screened by landscaping pursuant to subsection 16-3-2(c)(8) below.
