Common use of Entry Level Step Clause in Contracts

Entry Level Step. All initial employment shall be at the first step of the salary range, provided that the Department Director may make an appointment to a position at an appropriate higher salary when, in his/her opinion, it is necessary to obtain qualified personnel, or when it appears that the education or experience of a proposed employee is substantially superior to the minimum requirements of the class and justifies a beginning salary in excess of the first step. City Manager approval is required for entry level appointment above Step C for any position.
