The Equivalent Workloads clause defines the requirement that tasks or responsibilities assigned under an agreement must be comparable in scope, effort, or complexity to those previously agreed upon or performed. In practice, this clause ensures that if one party is asked to take on new or additional work, such work should not exceed the level or intensity of the original assignments unless otherwise negotiated. This helps maintain fairness and prevents one party from being overburdened with disproportionately difficult or time-consuming tasks, thereby ensuring balanced expectations and workload distribution.
Equivalent Workloads a. The minimum credit for head coaching activities shall be the percentage indicated in the table below of a full-time appointment for a full academic year, or nine-month appointment year, except that cross-country skiing (combined men and women) will remain at twenty-nine percent (29%) and seven (7) credits. The apportionment of the percentage of a full-time appointment to coaching activities during each academic semester during the year shall be determined by the President.
Equivalent Workloads. The additional compensation provided for in Article 24.C shall not apply if, all things considered, the member’s overall workload is substantially equivalent to that described in Article 24.A, B, and C. Any disagreement with regard to whether such equivalency exists may be submitted as a grievance in accordance with Article 32 of the Agreement.

Nothing shall prevent the President from crediting a greater percentage of a full-time workload for any particular head coaching appointment.
