Sabbatical. (a) After every six years of service, an employee may apply for sabbatical leave of three months, or other agreed period, on full pay, whether as a continuous period or a series of separate periods, to spend time at other clinical units or centres, universities or research institutes or working (or volunteering) for a medical charity for the purposes of strengthening or acquiring clinical knowledge or skills or undertaking an approved course of study or research in matters relevant to their clinical practice.
Sabbatical. Leave without pay may be granted for sabbatical for the purpose of professional employee growth
Sabbatical. Upon returning to regular employment as a faculty member, the individual who has served as IFO President shall be given the right to a one (1) semester sabbatical after serving one (1) term in office, and two (2) semesters if more than one (1) term is served. The sabbatical shall be at full base salary but otherwise consistent with the provisions of Article 19, Section C, Subd. 3-7. This sabbatical leave shall not be counted toward nor be used to deny a sabbatical leave to which the IFO President would be contractually eligible to take based on the faculty member’s years of service. However, the time served as IFO President shall not be counted as time toward years of service for purposes of eligibility for such contractual sabbatical leave only.
Sabbatical a. The Board may grant a Teacher, on written request, an unpaid sabbatical of up to one (1) school year for improvement of professional skills through:
i. Advanced study;
ii. Work experience;
iii. Teacher exchange programs; or
iv. Approved educational travel.
Sabbatical leaves granted shall not exceed one percent (1%) of the total certified staff in that current year.
Sabbatical. Leave without pay may be granted for sabbatical for the purpose of professional employee growth. Sabbaticals may be taken for up to six (6) months every five (5) years and may be split into three (3) month periods with management approval.
Sabbatical. The University endorses sabbaticals as a means of encouraging continuous professional development, and productive scholarship, which will be mutually beneficial to the academic staff member and the institution. An academic staff member may apply for, or the University may offer, a sabbatical. The University shall grant annually a limited number of sabbaticals in keeping with its responsibilities. Such sabbaticals shall not be unreasonably withheld.
Sabbatical. The Employer agrees that it is to the mutual benefit of the Employer and the Employee to improve the educational standards of the workforce. Accordingly, the Employer agrees that Employees with three (3) years employment, who wish to further their education, may be permitted up to one (1) year of education leave. A request for education leave shall not be unreasonably requested or unreasonably denied. Any benefits based on service and seniority shall be retained but not accumulated. Upon return to work, the Employee shall be placed in a position equivalent to that which the Employee held prior to the education leave.
Sabbatical. Members meeting the eligibility rules for sabbatical leave provided for in OAR 580-021-0205 as revised February 2, 1993 will be considered for sabbatical leave as follows:
A. A faculty member may be considered for sabbatical leave only after having been continuously employed in the Department of Higher Education at half-time or more for six academic or fiscal years at the rank of Instructor or above. A series of annual appointments shall be considered continuous whether or not interrupted by one or more authorized leaves of absence. However, an authorized leave of absence does not count as a year of service for purposes of the six-year requirement for sabbatical eligibility, nor does it prejudice the faculty member's right to consideration for sabbatical leave. Faculty members employed on academic-year appointments may be considered for a second sabbatical leave after thirteen
Sabbatical. Teachers who have been employed for seven (7) consecutive years by the Board may, upon request, be granted a sabbatical leave for teacher improvement of up to one (1) year. It is agreed that teacher improvement includes: attending a college, university or other educational institution, which will improve the teacher's ability to teach and taking a minimum of six (6) semester credits each semester. During said sabbatical leave, the teacher shall be considered to be in the employ of said Board, shall have a contract, and shall be paid one half his/her full salary. The Board shall not be liable for death or injuries sustained by any teacher while on sabbatical leave. The full medical insurance benefits will be paid by the employee. Teachers on sabbatical leave shall be allowed credit toward retirement for time spent on such leave in accordance with the rules and regulations established by the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement Funds. While on sabbatical leave, seniority shall accrue. Upon returning from sabbatical leave, the non-tenure eligible staff member shall be restored to the same position or to a position of like nature and be placed on the salary schedule as the non-tenure eligible staff member would have been if he/she worked in the district during the sabbatical period. The placement process for tenure eligible staff members shall be governed by Board policy and corresponding administration guidelines. Provided there are enough people who qualify for sabbatical leaves and apply for such leaves, the Board may grant three (3) such leaves per year with half pay to the teacher. Teachers granted a sabbatical leave will be required to sign a personal contract agreeing to return to the School District for the year immediately following the leave. Failure to return to the School District will require the teacher to repay to the School District with interest (be determined upon granting of leave) the amount of pay they received while on leave.
