Established Commencement Date (ECD Sample Clauses
The Established Commencement Date (ECD) clause defines the official date on which a project, contract, or specific obligation is deemed to begin. This clause typically specifies how the ECD is determined, such as by referencing a particular event, the completion of certain preconditions, or mutual agreement between the parties. For example, the ECD might be set as the date when all permits are obtained or when a notice to proceed is issued. Its core practical function is to provide a clear and unambiguous starting point for calculating deadlines, performance periods, and other time-sensitive obligations, thereby reducing the risk of disputes over timing.
