Extended Shift Compensatory Time Sample Clauses

The Extended Shift Compensatory Time clause establishes the right of employees to receive compensatory time off in lieu of additional pay when they work shifts that extend beyond their regular hours. Typically, this means that if an employee is required to work overtime or cover extra hours due to operational needs, they accrue time off that can be used at a later date, rather than receiving immediate overtime pay. This clause helps manage labor costs for employers while ensuring employees are fairly compensated for extra work, providing flexibility in how compensation for extended shifts is delivered.
Extended Shift Compensatory Time. Employees who work in excess of sixteen (16) continuous hours in a shift shall accrue compensatory time, in addition to other compensation authorized for such work, at the rate of one-half (½) hour for each hour continuously worked in excess of sixteen (16) hours. The accrued hours of compensatory time shall be subject to provisions of Article 5.
