EXTENDING THE TIME Clause Samples
The "Extending the Time" clause allows for the extension of deadlines or timeframes specified in a contract. In practice, this clause outlines the conditions under which a party may request additional time, such as delays caused by unforeseen events or changes in project scope, and may require formal notice or approval from the other party. Its core function is to provide flexibility in contract performance, helping to prevent breaches due to circumstances beyond a party's control and ensuring that both parties have a clear process for managing delays.
EXTENDING THE TIME. With the defendant’s consent and upon a showing of good cause—tak- ing into account the public interest in the prompt disposition of criminal cases—a mag- istrate judge may extend the time limits in Rule 5.1(c) one or more times. If the defendant does not consent, the magistrate judge may extend the time limits only on a showing that extraor- dinary circumstances exist and justice requires the delay.
