Common use of Family School Partnership Leave Clause in Contracts

Family School Partnership Leave. (See Labor Code Section 230.8) Unit members through established relationship as being the parent, guardian, or grandparent having custody of one or more children in preschool through grade twelve (12), shall be entitled to utilize up to eight (8) hours during a calendar month and up to forty (40) hours during each school year to participate in activities of the school for which the child attends The member shall utilize existing vacation, personal leave or compensatory time off for the purpose of this leave to be paid leave. The member shall also have the option of exercising this leave entitlement as an unpaid leave. Members must provide his/her supervisor forty-eight (48) hours notice to request to utilize this leave. Lesser notice of request shall be permitted and honored when justifiable extenuating circumstances exist.
