General Investment Consultant. The Board's general investment consultant acts as a fiduciary to the Fund, providing reports to the Board on emerging trends and issues of concern to public pension funds generally and to the Fund in particular. The general investment consultant also analyzes and makes recommendations with respect to the Board's asset allocation and investment structure, policies, the investment advisors' implementation of policy and strategy, the appropriate investment horizon for the Fund given its actuarial characteristics, and provides such other research as may be required from time to time. In addition to the general investment consultant, the Board may retain other investment consultants as required for specialized needs, such as for particular asset classes or unique investment projects. These specialty consultants will report to the Board on emerging trends and issues that are germane to their respective assignments and that are of concern to public pension funds generally and to the Fund in particular.
