Granting of Annual Experience Increment. Employees completing a normal duty year, as defined by Article VI, Section 1, shall be advanced one step on the Salary Schedule, subject to the following conditions:

A salary increase shall not be withheld unless the Principal is notified of the deficiency in writing and given reasonable opportunity to correct such deficiency. The withholding of an annual step increase may be appealed through the grievance procedure established by Article XII.
