Health and Safety Arrangements. The Contractor must ensure that all his personnel attend a Health and Safety Induction Course prior to starting with any work. The Induction Course is presented by the Employer’s Safety Risk Department at Duvha Power Station. Arrangements are to be made with Safety Risk Management by the Contractor. The Contractor shall comply with the guidelines set out in the Duvha Power Station Safety Manual SAS 0012. The sheet on the first page must be completed by the Contractor and submitted to the Services Manager before starting any work. This sheet will be valid for the duration of the contract. Safety Risk Management has the right and authority to visit and inspect the Contractor’s work place or site yard and the working areas to ensure that tools; machinery and Equipment comply with the minimum safety requirements. The Services Manager may instruct the Contractor to stop work, where the Contractor’s personnel fail to conform to safety standards or contravene health and safety regulations. Such stop-work order is not a compensation event. The Services Manager may instruct the Contractor to discipline his employees and to submit a disciplinary action report to the Services Manager. The Contractor shall implement addition health and safety precautions where necessary. Any tampering with the Employer’s fire equipment is strictly forbidden. All exit doors, fire escape routes, walkways, stairways, stair landings and access to electrical distribution boards must be kept free of obstruction, and not be used for work or storage at any time. Fire fighting equipment must remain accessible at all times. In case of fire, the Contractor reports the location and extent of the fire to the Electrical Operating Desk at extension 2222. The Contractor takes the necessary action to safe guard the area to prevent injury and the spreading of the fire.
