High School Teachers a. The High School Scheduling Committee shall be composed of the high school principals, the guidance liaison, and 5 appointees named by the Union. Co-facilitators shall be chosen form the principals and the Union appointees. Meeting attendance and summaries shall be submitted monthly to Summit.
b. The High School Scheduling Committee shall meet with the purpose of investigating and recommending changes to the master schedule, testing schedules, and assembly schedules taking into consideration the factors reflected below. Any proposed modification of the high school schedule from year to year shall follow the decision-consensus procedure set forth in Article III of the Teacher Administrative Partnership (TAP) charter, and shall be memorialized by a Letter of Understanding signed by the Superintendent and Local 795 President.
i. Where feasible, common embedded planning time by department and/or grade level team. Teachers are expected to exercise their professional judgment in determining when to use individual and/or collaborative planning to best meet the needs of their students;
ii. At least 250 minutes of individual planning time per week;
iii. Protection of instructional time from interruptions due to announcements, early sports release, pullouts for perfunctory tasks such as senior class rings, Ohio State Testing, pep talks, etc.;
iv. Identifying and solving obstacles brought to them by programs at the high school that may conflict with a new schedule, especially with special ed., the arts, career and technical education, and others;
v. Help oversee class load, number of preparations, and assignments of duties with the purpose of identifying possible inequities that might not be necessary; and
vi. Identifying possible professional development that may be needed for a different schedule
vii. The High School Scheduling Committee may consider other factors to the extent applicable to a High School master schedule change.
c. For the purpose of enhancing the environment at the High School, facilitating the efficient operation of the building, discussing school-wide issues, and as a proactive means to effectively address staff/administrative concerns, the High School TAP – comprised of building administrators and CHTU stewards – will meet on a regular basis. A teacher selected by the Union President and an administrator selected by the Superintendent will serve as co-chairpersons of this body. High School Teachers. Four (4) work days without students for returning high school teachers to be used as two (2) non-student attendance days, one (1) at the end of each semester; plus two (2) days prior to the opening of schools.
High School Teachers. High school teachers (grades 9-12) shall be assigned a duty-free lunch period per day.
High School Teachers a. High school teachers will be provided at least one class period (currently 72-77 minutes) of planning time per full day of school.
b. Basic teaching schedules for grades 9-12 secondary teachers will consist of four classes and a planning period.
High School Teachers. (1) The daily teaching load of high school teachers (grades 9-12) shall be six (6) teaching periods and the assignment of a supervised study or another non-teaching activity period, exclusive of preparation time, shall be considered one of the six (6)
High School Teachers. A teacher regularly assigned as a secondary teacher shall have, on the average, 1450 minutes of teaching per week unless more time is necessary to satisfy State requirements pertaining to minimum pupil instruction time. Individual planning time will not exceed one (1) period per day. A High School teacher shall have a duty free lunch period equal to that of students except for time needed to supervise hallways during passing periods.
High School Teachers. Fifth and Sixth Hour Preparation-the salary divided by the number of teacher days divided by 6 x .25 = rate x number of student days in the school year. The number of teacher days will be based on the number of days in the school calendar (Article 18.0000) for that teacher (new teacher or otherwise). One-half (½) of compensation will be paid at the end of the first semester and one-half (½) at the end of the second semester.
High School Teachers. High school teachers shall be in their duty area fifteen (15) minutes before the opening of the regular school day.
High School Teachers. Preparation time for all full time high school teachers shall average ten (10) regular classroom periods over a ten (10) day work period, with no less than forty minutes per preparation period, and preparation periods on at least four (4) days of every five day work week.
High School Teachers including but not limited to those working a block schedule, will be paid the correct proportional rate of 3.5% of the teacher’s per diem rate, per student, per day for overages. This rate shall not change based on the length of the class periods, but strictly on a basis of per-student-rostered to the teacher. Overages shall be determined according to course scheduling as follows: ● For schedules that use single all-year-long rostering (whether traditional or using minutes-banking such as a whole-year block schedule): All students rostered to the teacher are counted each instructional day regardless of which days of the week each class period occurs. ● For multiple-term rostering schedules (e.g., 4x4 with separate courses for fall and spring, or an interlaced AB 4x4 alternating all year in which teachers have two preparation periods): Overages per instructional day only incorporate students rostered to courses scheduled for that day.
