Hiring of Retirees. 1. The District may elect to hire PERS Chapter 238 Program retirees as temporary employees under the following terms and conditions: Retirees must hold a current Oregon teaching license and any necessary endorsement(s). Retirees from Xxxx Xxxxx will be paid at the same column and step placement as earned prior to retirement. Retirees new to the District will be placed on the salary schedule according to Article 15, Section A #2. Retirees will be granted the use of paid leave, prorated for the period of employment, as outlined in Article 18 of this Agreement. Retirees and the District shall not be subject to participation in the PERS retirement system contributions, nor any compensation in lieu of PERS contributions. Retirees will be eligible for all insurance benefits as outlined in Article 16 of this Agreement, including the District’s maximum contribution. At the end of the temporary employment period retirees who qualify will begin receiving benefits as outlined in the Contract Between Xxxx Xxxxx Education Association/LUBC and Xxxx Xxxxx School District for Supplemental Retirement Benefits (2000- 2021). 2. At the end of the temporary employment period the District will open the position for hiring. The District reserves the right to advertise the temporary position at an earlier time in order to secure the best possible applicants. 3. The District has no obligation to monitor the period of employment of a retiree with regard to the limitations set forth in ORS 238.082 should the limitations set forth in ORS 238.082 be exceeded, the District shall be held harmless.
