Common use of Hospital Appointment Clause in Contracts

Hospital Appointment. Hospital appointments to the medical/dental staff of clinical departments and programs, now or hereafter established, of physicians or dentists who either will not hold University appointments or will also hold part-time or adjunct University appointments will be made in accordance with the Hospital’s by-laws, policies and/or procedures. The Chief of the Hospital Department may consult the Chair of the corresponding University department regarding the appointment. For greater certainty, the parties agree that the Hospital does not require the University’s approval with respect to such appointments. Hospital appointments of staff who will hold full-time University appointments may be made only upon the recommendation of both the Chief of the Hospital Department and the Chair of the University of Toronto Clinical Department, hereinafter referred to as “Chair”, or the Xxxx of a Health Faculty. Nothing in this Agreement shall be interpreted to limit the Hospital’s right to unilaterally alter, suspend or terminate the privileges of its Medical-Dental staff in accordance with its by-laws and the Public Hospitals Act as amended from time to time or to require approval of the University in such circumstances.
