Common use of Host Teachers Clause in Contracts

Host Teachers. Host teachers support trainees with elements of their school-based training. They may offer specialist curriculum and pedagogic expertise, for example in phonics, mathematics, behaviour management, inclusion, assessment. They may also receive trainees within their classroom to offer opportunities for collaborative teaching or experiences with different groups of pupils and teaching and learning arrangements. Host Teachers are responsible for supporting, advising and monitoring trainees on discrete aspects of their work in school, within the Host Teacher’s classroom. Host Teachers are expected to:  set this support within the overall programme of experience and learning set-up by the mentor;  discuss with the trainee their learning, targets and progress in the specific areas that they are supporting;  report to the mentor on the trainee’s progress and input into the weekly meetings and reporting templates as appropriate;  contribute to the interim and final assessment of trainees.
