Hour Break for Senior Medical Officers. 5.4.1 A SMO who works so much overtime between the termination of their ordinary work on one day and the commencement of their ordinary work on the next day that they have not had a “fatigue break” of ten hours will, subject to the Medical Superintendent or delegate making an assessment of the organisation’s ability to reasonably defer or delegate the medical officers’ work and the risk to the medical officer or patient safety of the medical officer continuing to work, be released after completion of such overtime until they have had a fatigue break without loss of pay for ordinary working time occurring during such absence.
