Common use of Index Clause in Contracts

Index. The term “Index” as used in this Lease shall be the “Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (1982-84 = 100), U.S. City Average, All Items,” as published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States Department of Labor. If the Index is not published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics or another governmental agency at any time during the term of this Lease, or if the Index is otherwise re-named, discontinued or superseded, then the calculations based on the Index shall be made using the most closely comparable statistics on the purchasing power of the consumer dollar as published by a responsible financial authority and selected by Landlord.
