Interactive Television. Interactive television may be conducted as part of load or as overload, subject to Article 12, Section B. For purposes of calculating teaching load, one (1) interactive television credit shall be the equivalent of one and one fourth (1.25) undergraduate credits. If a faculty member has a plan that has been appropriately approved for developing an interactive television course, the faculty member shall receive appropriate compensation or reassigned time for development of course materials. Technical and paraprofessional support shall be provided at the originating location as well as at each site.

Interactive Television. A. The parties agree that interactive television is primarily a matter of educational policy to be reached through the meet and confer process. The impact of the District's educational policy regarding interactive television affects the terms and conditions of employment of teachers, including but not limited to, those set forth in this Article. B. In the event that a Rochester teacher performs services involving interactive television outside of the District, then the provisions of this Contract shall follow that teacher. Supervisors in other districts must follow the provisions of this Contract as they may relate to that teacher providing interactive television services outside of the District. C. Mileage at the applicable rate shall be paid for actual and necessary travel assigned to the teacher unless a school vehicle is utilized by the teacher. D. Broadcasting teachers are not responsible for technical repairs, technical set-ups, or technical maintenance. E. The broadcasting teacher would be responsible for the instructional procedures and activities consistent with District educational policy.
Interactive Television. 1. A teacher may be assigned to only one interactive course at a time. 2. An assignment to teach an interactive television course shall be considered as one of the required instructional periods per day to meet the normal load for the grade and the department.

A teacher may volunteer for only one interactive television course at a time. 2. All teachers who are scheduled to teach an interactive television course shall be scheduled for one fewer instructional period (including the ITV course) per day than the normal load for the grade level and department.
Interactive Television. Definition. Interactive television exists when an instructor provides instruction by way of live interactive television from one site to another site or to a number of sites at the same time. Any of the sites may be the one at which the instructor is present. Basis of Participation. Participation in interactive television instruction shall be voluntary. Training and Preparation A bargaining unit member who volunteers for interactive television instruction shall be offered training in the use of necessary technology prior to the start of the initial assignment. The College shall determine the type of training and shall make the training available prior to the start of the initial assignment. Additional training shall be offered where feasible as determined by the College at the request of the bargaining unit member. The College shall compensate each bargaining unit member an additional contact hour toward teaching load or overload compensation during the first semester the bargaining unit member volunteers for and is assigned to interactive television instruction. The College may grant an additional hour of such compensation during the first semester the bargaining unit member uses interactive television instruction after major changes in technology. Class Size. Initial credit for any interactive television instruction, regardless of the number of sites, shall be one (1) section on load or overload. Once the combined enrollment at all sites exceeds thirty-five (35), the bargaining unit member shall receive additional compensation as follows: 64 – 68 0.95 X overload rate Before the number of students in a section of interactive television instruction exceeds sixty-eight (68), the parties shall reach agreement on compensation for the additional students. Support Services. Bargaining unit members who agree to a College request to provide proctoring or other two-way interactive television services in addition to other job duties or outside the work day as specified in Article 6.4 shall be compensated at the advisement rate.

Interactive Television. 1. The parties agree that a teaching assignment through the medium of interactive television will be on a voluntary basis. If no one volunteers or the administration does not approve the volunteer, the administration reserves the right to assign who they feel is most qualified. 2. If is agreed that two-way interactive television may be an alternative to be used for the instruction of students in the St. Xxxxxxx Community Schools. Teachers are encouraged to develop classes for use in the system. 3. Teachers will be provided with appropriate training to operate the equipment. 4. Any tapes of any class will not be used to teach academic classes in following years unless by the originating teacher. 5. A stipend from Schedule B will be assigned to any teacher providing instruction over ITV.

A faculty member will be assumed to consent to a live broadcast to any NorthNet site scheduled to receive the course. D. Administrative observation by persons having no direct role in the tenure/promotion process is permitted. Every effort will be made to notify faculty prior to any administrative observation. Observation for evaluative purposes will be by prior agreement.

In the event no member of the college faculty is available to teach a course on interactive television, the Chair may seek qualified adjunct expertise. F. Faculty who have not participated in a formal training session on the use of the interactive television agree to do so prior to the first scheduled class session. It is understood that such training will be provided by the administration at a mutually agreed upon time. G. Both management and the Federation recognize that class size limits for televised courses cannot be a simple function of the number of sites available. In some instances quality may be maintained with unrestricted enrollment at all available sites. In other instances, enrollment limits may actually need to be lower than would be the case in a traditional classroom setting. Decisions regarding class size limits will require approval of the College Chair in consultation with the faculty member teaching the course. H. The difficulty of course preparation, control and management increases as the level of technology, number of students and number of sites increases.
