Association Membership. In accordance with applicable laws, the Employer/Appointing Authority shall not discriminate against, interfere with, restrain or coerce an employee from exercising their right to join or not to join the Association, or participate in an official capacity on behalf of the Association, which is in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement. The Association shall not discriminate against, interfere with, restrain or coerce an employee from exercising the right to join or not to join the Association, and will not discriminate against any employee in the administration of this Agreement because of non- membership in the Association.

Association Membership. There shall be no discrimination by the Employer or the Administration because of membership or non-membership in the IFO, or because of activities on behalf of the IFO, nor shall any attempts be made to discourage or encourage membership in the IFO.

Association Membership. 8.01 No person shall be required to join the Association as a condition of employment. 8.02 Subject to the provisions of Article 8.03 and upon written authorization by the Association, the University of New Brunswick agrees to deduct on a bi-weekly basis the dues or assessments of the Association during the life of this Collective Agreement, from the salary of each Contract Academic Employee. 8.03 Contract Academic Employees may register, in writing, with the Association (copy to the President of the University) an objection to paying these dues or assessments. Such objection may be on the grounds that the Contract Academic Employee is a practising member of a recognized religion which has a doctrine against paying dues or the equivalent of dues to any union. Such objection may also be on the grounds that the Contract Academic Employee has expressed a personal conviction, as a matter of conscience, against paying dues or the equivalent of dues to any union. These objections shall be registered within twenty days of the signing of this Collective Agreement or within twenty days of return of a Contract Academic Employee who is absent from the University or within twenty days of entering the bargaining unit for persons who are not Contract Academic Employees in the bargaining unit at the time of signing of this Collective Agreement. The Association shall carefully consider each objection and shall advise the Contract Academic Employee and the University of New Brunswick if an objection is justified. If the Association upholds the objection, the Contract Academic Employee shall pay the equivalent of dues by payroll deduction to a University of New Brunswick Scholarship Fund. 8.04 Contract Academic Employees who registered an objection to paying the dues and assessments of the Association in accordance with the provisions of Article 8.03, and whose objection was upheld by the Association, shall retain their exemption from the payment of dues and assessments to the Association. In the case of persons who were Contract Academic Employees prior to the signing of this Collective Agreement the provisions of Article 8.03 shall apply only to those Contract Academic Employees who entered the bargaining unit within twenty (20) days prior to the signing of this Collective Agreement. 8.05 The University of New Brunswick agrees to remit to the Association the amounts deducted under Article 8.02 on the next working day following each pay day. Association Membership. 5.01 All employees are eligible to become members of the Peel Regional Police Association. 5.02 It is mutually agreed that there will be no discrimination, interference, restraint, or coercion exercised or practiced by the Board or the Association, or any of their respective representatives, with respect to any member because of his/her membership status or connection with the Association. 5.03 A member of the Peel Regional Police shall, as a condition of service, be required to notify the Board in writing of his/her authorization to deduct Association Membership Dues from his/her pay. 5.04 The Board recognizes the right of the Association to appoint or otherwise select a Negotiating and Grievance Committee with a maximum membership of four (4) members of the Service or five (5) if the Board's Committee is five (5). The Board will recognize and deal with the said Committee with reference to negotiations and grievances. It is acknowledged that the members of the Committee do have their regular duties to perform as members of the Service and hence, time off for Committee matters will be with permission in all cases. Permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. 5.05 The Board agrees that it, through the Regional Municipality of Peel, will provide payroll deduction for the members, for the payment of all benefits, credit union deductions, membership fees for the Peel Regional Police Amateur Athletic Association and the deduction of dues on behalf of the Association, the sum of such deductions to be paid to the Association within one (1) month. The Association agrees to indemnify and save the Board harmless against any claim or liability arising out of the application of this Article except for any claim or liability arising out of an error committed by the Board. 5.06 All members will be placed on a system of direct deposit for payroll.

Association Membership. The University and Association shall at all times comply with the Association security provisions of the Public Employee Relations Act (PERA). Should any portion of Public Act 349 pertaining to Agency Shop be modified by law or by action of a court of competent jurisdiction following exhaustion of all legal appeals processes, the parties agree to reopen Article VI of the contract within thirty (30) days in order to renegotiate the language.

The Association will provide the necessary documentation to the appropriate human resources area of NAV CANADA so that it will be included as part of the employment documentation given to the employee upon hiring.
