JOINT OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE (“JOHSC. 1. The Employer shall establish a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) as mandated under the Occupational Health and Safety Act that shall include union and management co-chairpersons. Terms of Reference for any related JOHSC sub-committees shall be established by the JOHSC and shall be in compliance and accordance with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
2. Recognizing its responsibilities under the applicable legislation, the Employer agrees to accept at least one (1) Health and Safety representative selected or appointed by the Association from amongst bargaining unit employees at each worksite where there are more than 20 AMAPCEO represented employees, except for 480 University, in Toronto which shall have at least three (3) Health and Safety representatives on the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Pursuant to the Act, where there are multiple worksites within 40km of one another, the Parties will consider and determine whether one or more committees are required for the purposes of this Article
2.1. Workplaces with fewer than 20 employees will have concerns dealt with through the ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇, ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, JOHSC. It is understood that any employee in a public health lab, which does not have a joint occupational health and safety committee, may forward his or her concern to the JOHSC at 81 Resources Road.
3. The Employer will ensure that there is at least one (1) AMAPCEO member certified from each worksite where there are more than 20 AMAPCEO represented employees, as described in the Occupational Health and Safety Act R.S.O. 1990. Such member on the committee will be selected or appointed by AMAPCEO. Such employees shall not lose regular pay because of necessary absence from work due to participation in courses to obtain certification and the Employer shall pay the cost of the tuition and registration fees of such courses.
4. The mandate of the JOHSC is to identify potential dangers and hazards, institute means of improving health and safeties programmes and recommend actions to be taken to improve conditions related to safety and health.
5. Meetings shall be held every second month or more frequently at the call of a co- chairs, when requested. The Committee shall maintain minutes of all meetings and make the same available for review.
6. The Employer agrees to co-operate in providing necessary information to enable the Committee to fulfil its functions.

In addition, from time-to-time and as required the JOHSC will review and amend the terms of reference (“Terms of Reference for ▇▇▇▇ Falls Operation Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee”) and adopt any necessary changes with respect to composition or administration of the Committee.
