Journeymen and Apprentices. 19.01 Trades Work A journeyman shall be made available to oversee the digging of holes, the framing and erecting of poles and towers, in situations where electrical hazards may be encountered. Journeymen and apprentices shall perform the stringing of overhead wires and aerial cables, the hanging of transformers, street and ornamental lighting and signal heads; and maintaining, splicing and terminating underground cables, flame proofing on underground energized cables, and splicing of all metallic sheathed and shielded cables on overhead systems. Non-trades personnel may proceed to install pre-wired street light heads where an electrical journeyman has completed a thorough hazard assessment of the worksite. Any breakers, contactors, electric eyes or other such devices feeding the circuit must be set in a de-energized position/state and clearly marked/tagged. (“Lock-out” being the preferred method if practical). Such hazard assessment shall be in force for 15 calendar days. 19.02 Recognition of Journeyman Status
