Common use of Jury and Witness Service Leave Clause in Contracts

Jury and Witness Service Leave. An employee will be excused from work without loss of pay for required jury duty or to testify pursuant to a subpoena. The employee shall provide the University a written statement from the court showing the days served in a jury or witness capacity and fees received. The employee will arrange to refund to the University a sum equal to that amount received, except allowances for meals and travel. Pay for court appearance shall not apply if the employee is a party to the legal action, unless the employee is the defendant in an action arising from, or related to, work responsibilities.
