Knowledge of Grievance. A teacher who believes he or she has a grievance shall first discuss the matter with his or her principal personally or accompanied by an Association representative or Association officer within five (5) school days after the teacher has had knowledge or should have had knowledge of the occurrence of the event upon which the grievance is based. It shall be the objective of both parties to resolve the matter in this informal manner. In the event the grievance is not settled in this manner, the following formal grievance procedure shall apply and there shall be no reference made in a teacher’s personnel record as to any initiation of a grievance of said teacher.
