LADDER CLASSIFICATIONS. A job ladder consists of a series of overlapping classifications of increasing responsibility, which are related through a common body of work. Progression through the ladder is at an individual pace based on a demonstrated increase in qualifications, skills and abilities and is not based on available vacancies.
