Main dam and water intake. The main dam will be a gravity structure, in solid concrete, with a crest at an altitude of 224 metres, 1,400 metres long and with a volume of 6,800,000 m3 to be built across the Paraná River and the channel on the left bank which will be dug in order to divert the river temporarily. The dam will have 14 water-intake openings equipped with gates. Each intake will give access, via a pressure pipe, to a turbine in the powerhouse.
